Cool shots. I've always wondered why saxophones are always shiny. Well, after reading this article, I had to go look it up:

After completing the instrument, manufacturers usually apply a thin coating of clear or colored acrylic lacquer, or silver plate, over the bare brass. The lacquer or plating serves to protect the brass from oxidation, and maintains its shiny appearance.
